🌙 Dark Theme

Easy on the eyes in low light

The theme toggle button in the toolbar switches between modes with a single click. A sun icon indicates light mode, while a moon icon indicates dark mode. Your preference is automatically saved to your browser, so the editor remembers your choice every time you return.

💡 Pro tip: If you haven't set a preference, Sitemap Editor automatically detects your system's dark mode setting and matches it.

Carefully Crafted Color Palettes

Both themes have been carefully designed to ensure readability and visual comfort during extended use. The light theme uses soft grays and whites with high contrast text, while the dark theme uses deep charcoal backgrounds with appropriately adjusted text colors. All UI elements, including buttons, panels, and borders, adapt to the current theme.

The canvas background transforms between themes while maintaining the dot grid pattern that helps with visual alignment. Node cards, connector lines, and section colors are all optimized for each theme, ensuring your sitemap looks great and remains easy to read regardless of which mode you choose.

System Preference Detection

For users who haven't explicitly set a theme preference, Sitemap Editor automatically detects your operating system's dark mode setting. If your computer is set to dark mode, the editor will open in dark mode. This seamless integration means the editor fits naturally into your existing workflow without requiring any configuration.

Once you manually toggle the theme, your explicit choice takes priority over the system detection. This gives you full control while still providing sensible defaults for new users. The theme setting persists across browser sessions, so you only need to set it once.
