Multiple Export Formats

Share your sitemap the way you need

Export Options for Every Use Case

Sitemap Editor supports three export formats, each designed for different use cases. Whether you need to share your sitemap with developers, present it in a meeting, or analyze it in a spreadsheet, there's an export format that fits your workflow. All exports use the sitemap title as the filename, making it easy to organize multiple sitemaps.

JSON

Full data export for developers and tools

XLSX

Spreadsheet format for analysis and reporting

PDF

Visual export for presentations and documentation

💡 Pro tip: The JSON export includes all sitemap data and can be re-imported later, making it perfect for backup and version control.

JSON Export for Development

The JSON export creates a complete, structured representation of your sitemap. It includes all page data: titles, URL slugs, section assignments, and the full hierarchical structure. This format is perfect for developers who want to integrate the sitemap into their build process, generate navigation menus programmatically, or feed the data into content management systems.

The JSON format is also the native format for Sitemap Editor's import feature, so you can use JSON exports as backups. Export your work, store the file in your project repository, and import it later to continue editing or share with team members. The export includes both the sitemap structure and the sitemap title.

Excel Export for Analysis

The XLSX export creates a spreadsheet with your sitemap data flattened into rows. Each page becomes a row with columns for Level, Title, Slug, Section, Path, Has Children, and Children Count. This format is ideal for content audits, SEO analysis, stakeholder reviews, and documentation purposes. Open it in Excel, Google Sheets, or any spreadsheet application.

The spreadsheet format makes it easy to sort, filter, and analyze your sitemap. Want to see all pages at a certain depth? Filter by Level. Need to count pages by section? Create a pivot table. The Path column shows the complete breadcrumb trail for each page, making it easy to understand the context of any page in the hierarchy.

PDF Export for Presentations

The PDF export creates a visual representation of your sitemap canvas, perfect for including in presentations, documentation, or client deliverables. The export captures your sitemap exactly as it appears on screen, including the title, all visible nodes with their colors, and the connector lines. The output is automatically sized to fit on an A4 page in either portrait or landscape orientation based on your sitemap's aspect ratio.

The PDF export includes the dot grid background for a polished, professional appearance. It's a faithful representation of what you see in the editor, making it easy to discuss your sitemap in meetings or share with stakeholders who don't need to make edits. The high-quality output ensures your sitemap looks great in print or on screen.
